PUBLIC INTEREST ADVOCACY CENTER - CPI, SARAJEVO
CPI was founded in 2009 with a mission to collect, analyze and publicize information of public interest and to support civil society development through advocating for transparency of the budget process in BiH. In 2013, CPI launched the Open Budget Index (OBI) that evaluates openness of the government according to the International Budget Partnership methodology, providing insights into openness of eight key budget documents in BiH --state, entity, cantonal level and Brcko District. CPI also created a uniform data base of budget spending for the state, entity and cantonal government in BiH. It developed a web site to present public spending by functional classification - Tax calculator. The Public spending counter application is placed on one of the busiest streets in Sarajevo. As one of CPI’s focuses is to work with local communities, CPI organized public hearings in 30 municipalities across BiH aiming to improve civic participation in budget execution process.
