Akcija was founded in 1998 with a mission to gather citizens who are interested in independent and alternative art and culture and independent media projects. Akcija was the first cultural organization that launched research activities in the area of culture and the only organization that has worked on these issues for the past 10 years. In 2006, it conducted a study examining the problems and needs of cultural organizations in four towns in BiH (Mostar, Tuzla, Banja Luka and Sarajevo). It was the first organization to launch training programs in the area of cultural management, fundraising and strategic planning for cultural organizations. AKCIJA has established contacts with more than 300 representatives of civil sector in BiH, local, regional and international experts in the area of cultural policies, cultural advocacy and cultural management.

FMC was founded in 2006 with a mission to develop and improve civil society sector and media through developing media and communication capacities of civil society, research and publishing, education on contemporary media communication and information technologies and public debates on current social topics. FMC took over the publishing of the only regional, independent, culture magazine Sarajevske Sveske that has been coming out since 2001. It gathers artists, thinkers, progressive intellectuals, activists from across the region, representing a unique forum for dialogue seekers and mediators in reconciliation in the Balkans. FMC issued 42 editions of Sveske. Since 2010, Mediacentar and Frontline Club from London have successfully organized evenings of cultural and media program. It is a part of the Frontline Club Events project implemented in the capital cities of Albania, BiH, Czech Republic, Slovakia and in 20 different cities in Russia. Through projections of documentary films and public debates, the public is informed about current social topics, celebrating independent journalism, culture projects, social engagement and share of thoughts.
